Enter Technical Classes

Explanation

Use this activity to enter new technical classes which are used when creating a characteristic template. This optional task is to be performed by a system administrator or other equivalent person.

Prerequisites

This activity has the following prerequisites:

• None.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• The technical class can be connected to numeric and alphanumeric attributes in order to create a template.
• Queries can be performed by class in order to search for similar items.
• Classes are used to create characteristic templates. 
• Templates by class are used in the Characteristic Best Fit Search. This enables you to query for parts with common or similar attributes.
• Characteristics may be associated with actual parts.

Procedure

To perform this activity, follow these steps:

1. Open the Technical Classes and Attributes window.
2. On the Classes tab, create a new record.
3. In the Technical Class field, enter up to 10 alphanumeric characters for the ID.
4. In the Description field, enter a description. 
5. Save the changes.
