Raise Operational Test Task
Explanation
This activity is used to raise an operational test task. Testing of an asset 
or aircraft is a basic means of establishing the compliance of the asset with 
its certification requirements. This can either be for a new asset or as a 
result of key changes to assets/aircraft, introduced as a part of a modification or 
upgrades which are undertaken as part of maintenance visits. Within the 
Aerospace industry various authorities have differing requirements to ensure the 
continued compliance with the applicable airworthiness requirements. Two of the 
primary authorities having policies, for instance, on post maintenance check 
flights are the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and EASA (European 
Aviation Safety Agency).
This activity focuses on instances where the owner, operator or service 
provider have deemed that a post maintenance check flight requirement is to be 
performed prior to the release to service. To raise an operational test task you 
need to create a new operational plan, in this instance the plan could be for a 
post maintenance flight check. The plan should describe the various aspects of 
performance activities which need to be validated as part of the activity. The 
actions which are required to be performed can be recorded in a document and 
connected to the operational plan once it is handed over to the operational 
personnel. However, if the operator decides that a particular post maintenance 
check flight is not required, the various activities that are to be validated 
can be added as specific checks which are to be performed as part of a standard 
return to service. The aspects which can be validated as part of these 
check-flights should establish that:
	- Handling characteristics are satisfactory and typical of the type
- Climb performance equals or exceeds the specified data
- The asset and its equipment function is satisfactory and the asset 
	continues to comply with its design standard
To be suitable, the schedules should cover handling tests, including the 
effectiveness of primary controls and trimmers, with specific direction to 
evaluate certain characteristics during operation phases, such as, take-off, 
climb, cruise, descent and landing.

	- An operational plan description must be defined. 
- If an owner organization, departure location or arrival location is 
	required, these values need to be registered in basic data.

Procedure
Follow this procedure to create an operational plan:
	- Open the Operational Planning window and create a new 
	record (F5). 
- In the Oper Plan ID field, enter a unique ID number for the 
	operational plan. 
- In the Description Number field, enter a description number for 
	the operational plan . Use the List of Values to select a value. This should 
	be Test Flight or Check Flight.
- Enter the start and end dates and times for the operational plan in the
	Start Date and End Date fields.
- Enter the information you require in the relevant fields.
- Select the Plan Complete check box to complete the operational 
	plan. 
- Save the record (F12). 
Follow this procedure to define vehicle models for the operational plan:
	- Open the Operational Planning window and query (F3) for 
	your operational plan.
- Click the Define Vehicle Models tab and create a new 
	record (F5). 
- In the Item Number field, enter the item number of the material 
	requirements record. 
- In the Planned Start Date field, enter the planned start date and 
	time of the operational task generated from this material requirements 
	record. This value can be updated as long as the operational plan is not 
	completed. When you create a new material requirements record, the indicated 
	start date cannot be earlier than the start date of the operational plan.
	
- In the Planned Finish Date field, enter the planned completion 
	date and time of the operational task . This value can be updated as long as 
	the operational plan is not completed. When you create a new material 
	requirements record, the indicated finish date cannot be later than the 
	finish date of the operational plan. 
- In the Planned Value field, enter the planned operating time or 
	length of the operational task. 
- In the Number of Vehicles field, enter the number of vehicles 
	needed to complete the operational task. This value should be 1 as the task 
	is for a specific Test activity.
- In the Product Number field, enter the product number of the 
	serial performing the operational task. Use the List of Values to select a 
	suitable value. 
- In the Model Number field, enter the model number of the serial 
	performing the operational task. Use the List of Values to select a suitable 
	value. 
- In the Equipment Code field, enter the requested equipment 
	assigned to serials needed to perform the operational task. This value can 
	be updated as long as the operational plan is not completed. Use the List of 
	Values to select a suitable value. Entering a value in this field is 
	optional. 
- Save the information (F12).
Follow this procedure to assign vehicles and crew to the operational plan:
	- Open the Operational Planning window and query (F3) for 
	your operational plan.
- Click the Assign Vehicles and Crew tab. 
- To assign vehicles to the operational event, create a new record (F5) in 
	the upper table of the tab. 
- In the Part Number field, enter the part number of the vehicle 
	assigned to the operational event. Use the List of Values to select a value.
	
- In the Serial Number field, enter the serial number of the 
	vehicle. Use the List of Values to select a value. 
- In the Operational Event Description field, enter a description 
	of the operational event. If the event is generated from an operational 
	plan, the description of the operational plan appears by default. The 
	default value can be changed if needed. 
- In the Operational Plan Item field, enter the preferred item 
	number of the operational plan. Use the List of Values to select a value.
	
- In the Planned Start Date field, enter the start date and time 
	for the operational event. 
- In the Planned Finish Date field, enter the date and time the 
	operational event is to be finished. 
- In the Planned Value field, enter the planned time consumption 
	for the execution of the operational event. 
- In the Remark field, enter any additional information about the 
	operational event. 
- Save the record (F12). 
- To assign personnel (crew) to an operational event, select the relevant 
	row (in the upper table), place the cursor on the lower table, and create a 
	new record (F5). 
- In the Person Identity field, enter the ID of the person you want 
	assigned to the operational event. Use the List of Values to select a value.
	
- Save the record (F12).
