Assign Part Revision to Modification
Explanation
This activity is used to assign valid part revisions to
the modification. The manual registration of assigned part revisions is
required, for instance, when a part with more than one part revision is assigned
to a modification that has the assignment type By Revision All Serials. At this
instance, the valid part revisions will not be assigned to the modification
automatically. You need to manually assign the relevant part revision(s) as
described in this activity. Note: If the part assigned to a modification
with the assignment type By Revision All Serials has only one part revision,
this part revision is assigned automatically to the modification. When a part
with one or more defined part revisions is assigned to a modification that has
the assignment type By Serial Range, all valid part revisions are assigned
automatically to the modification.
If the modification leads to the change of a part
and/or part revision on an assigned part, this activity can be used to enter the
new part number and/or the revision for the assigned part. If a new part number is
entered, the serial part identity will be changed automatically when the
modification is performed and will include the new part number and its part
revision.
Note: If the modification leads to the change of a part revision only,
no automatic changes will be performed and it is used for informational purposes
only.
Prerequisites
  - A modification must have been defined. This
modification must be in the Preliminary status.
- In order to assign part revisions to the
modification, the corresponding part number must have been assigned to the
	modification.
- If the modification leads to a part identity
change, the new part number and part revision for a
modified part must exist as a valid serial part revision.
- If the modification leads to a part identity
change, the new manufacturer and manufacturer part number
must have been defined in IFS/Part Catalog.
System Effects
	- Following data can be entered on the modification revision: References,
affected parts, instructions (operations, material, tools-and-facilities, criticality
etc), execution intervals (initial inspection, continued inspection or terminating action), and
the assignment of serials.
- Once the modification leading to a part identity change is complied
with, the serial will be updated with the new part number, revision and
manufacturer information entered on the assigned part revision. If the
serial is assigned as to be performed on another modification, the rename
will cause the serial to be removed from that modification.

Procedure
Follow this procedure to manually assign a part revision to a modification
which is in the Preliminary status:
	- Open the
Define Modification window and query (F3) for
	your modification revision.
- (Optional step) Click the
Assign Parts tab and verify that
the required part is assigned to the modification. The part revision which
is to be assigned to the modification belongs to this part.
- Click the Assign Part Revisions tab and create a new
	record (F5).
- In the Part Number field, enter the part number of the assigned
part. Use the List of Values to select the value.
- In the Part Revision field, enter the required part revision of
the assigned part. Use the List of Values to select a value.
- Save the record (F12).
If the modification leads to a part identity change on an assigned part, use
the following procedure to enter the new part number and revision of the part:
	- Open the
Define Modification window and query (F3) for
your modification revision that is in the Preliminary status.
- Click the
Assign Part Revisions tab and locate the row
containing the assigned part revision on which a part identity change is to
	be performed.
- In the Change to Part Number field, enter the new part number.
Use the List of Values to select a value. Note: If the modification
leads to a part revision change only, the part number of the assigned part
(i.e., the value displayed in the Part Number field) should be
	entered in this field.
- In the Change to Part Revision field, enter the new part
revision. Use the List of Values to select a value.
- In the Change to Manufacturer's Number field, enter the
manufacturer of the new part revision. Use the List of Values to select a
value. A value in this field is not required if the manufacturer of the
assigned part number and new part number is the same.
- In the Change to Manufacturer's Part Number field, enter the new
manufacturer's part identity. Use the List of Values to select a value. When
a new manufacturer is entered the manufacturer's part number should be
	entered as well.
- Save your changes (F12).
