Define RRP Unique Work Centers

Explanation

Use this activity to enter work centers to be used solely by resource requirements planning (RRP). The work centers you use as planning resources can have only the Planned state in the work center register. Such work centers are usable only in resource planning. You can, however, also work with work centers that have the Active state. This allows you to check workload in a bottleneck, for example.

The information you enter for RRP-unique work centers is used when you work with resource requirements planning. The information you enter for a work center is default when you work with the work center. The information you enter in the RRP Capacity tab is used if the work center is a planning resource. The work center does not need to have a state of Planned for you to enter information here.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the system creates a work center solely used by RRP, if the State is Planned.

Procedure

  1. Create a new record.
  2. Enter the short code of the work center in the Work Center field. This code can consist of up to 5 alphanumeric characters. Enter a description for the work center.
  3. In the Site field, specify the site at which the work center is to be used. Use the List of Values to select from available sites.
  4. Specify the work center's queue time.
  5. In the Work Center Code field, specify whether the work center is internal or external.
  6. In the Calendar ID field, enter the calendar to use. Use the List of Values to select from available calendars.
  7. Specify the utilization of the work center in the Utilization field. The default value is 100.
  8. Specify the work center's unit of measure. This must be Hour if the work center is Active. If the work center is Planned, you can use any unit of measure in the system. Use the List of Values to select from available units of measure.
  9. In the State field, specify whether the work center is an active or a planning resource. To register an RRP-unique work center, select Planned.
  10. Save.
