 VIM Serial
 Object and Address
Explanation
Use this activity to select the
 VIM (vehicle information management) serial
 object that is to be included in the service
request. If several addresses have been entered for the same object, you can
also select a combination of object and address. 
If pre-posting is required on the service request
created for the VIM serial, code part information must have been previously defined on
the serial. Code part information consists of the cost center and
object. Code parts will be retrieved from the serial for which the service
request is created. For more information refer to the About Code
Part Information online help file. The defined code part information can be viewed
in the 
Pre
Posting dialog box. 
Prerequisites
Before the
 VIM serial
 object and address can be selected, the
following must have been completed:
  - The customer needs to be entered in the 
	Service Request
    window.   
- The object needs to be entered in IFS/VIM and connected to a customer.
 
- Code part information must have been defined on the
    serial or a parent serial in the structure. This is used to retrieve code
    part information on the service request created for the VIM serial.  
System Effects
  - The
 VIM serial
 object is included in the service request. 
- 
You can enter additional information for the service request/work order.
- The defined cost center and object will be
    transferred to the service request created for the VIM serial.

Procedure
Use the following procedure to select the object for the service
request:
  - Open the 
	Service Request window.
  
- In the WO No field, query (F3) for your work order number.
  
- Use the List of Values to enter a VIM serial object in the Object ID
    field.
  
- Save the record (F12).
